old tree tea
tea we sit with daily and serve in ceremony.
Origin
Our teas come from family lead tea gardens in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Yunnan, China, growing with as less human interference as possible on biodiverse land. The trees are between 100 and 700 years old.
At Teas & Spirit we believe that tea is not just a beverage. Tea is medicine and its Qi (Life force energy) is influenced by where, how and whom it’s grown and processed by.

The trees our tea is made from are more than a 100 years old and grow with less human interference than those on conventional tea farms. The age creates depth within the flavor but also changes the way the Qi (tea energy) moves in the body.

All teas except Pu Er are suitable for bowl tea, which means simply putting a few leaves into a bowl or cup and directly infusing them with hot water. You can also prepare them in a tea pot (if it’s larger than 150 ml, don’t fill it up entirely so you can do several steeps). Please don’t worry to much about tea ware. It’s more about the way you prepare it - mindfully, with intention.

Gong Fu Cha ("making tea with skill") is a traditional Chinese way of brewing tea - using a small vessel, a higher ratio of leaves to water, and short, repeated infusions instead of one long steep. Rather than brewing a single pot and drinking it over time, you brew the same leaves again and again, often ten or more times, watching how the tea changes cup by cup - becoming stronger, then softening, revealing different layers of aroma and taste as the session unfolds.
It's less a fixed recipe than an approach: slowing down, paying attention, and letting the tea show you who it is over the course of several infusions rather than one.
If you don't have a full Gong Fu setup, a small teapot or gaiwan and short steeping times get you most of the way there.
-
Best is to store your teas away from odors, in a dark and temperature stable place. Make sure to seal your tea or fill it into a container.
-
Yes, all of our teas naturally contain caffeine. Many people find that aged and wild old-tree teas feel gentler on the body than the sharper caffeine hit of younger, plantation-grown teas - though this is based on tradition and personal experience rather than scientific measurement. If you're sensitive to caffeine, we recommend avoiding tea after 3pm.
-
As our teas are food products, we can only accept returns for items that are unopened and in their original, sealed packaging, in line with German consumer protection law. Once a package has been opened, we're unable to accept it back for hygiene reasons.
